How to make a Hetalia OC for dummies - PART 2

The looks

Another potential pitfall. Prepare, this is going to be elaborate.
I know there's a huge temptation to dye your OC's hair in all colours of the rainbow, but your OC is supposed to represent the majority of the country's population, and no-one is born with pink hair. It's the same with eye colours. Heterochromia may be fancy, but not for Hetalia OCs.

I'm slavic, and most slavic countries have a quite huge variety of hair- and eye colour combinations you can choose from - for example, my hair is dark brown and my eyes are green. But this doesn't apply to all of them, as I said most. South slavic and other Balkan folks predominantly have dark hair and eyes, as well as the rest of the southern guys. Well, these were just some examples after all,  it's up to you now to do some research as to the looks of your country's people.

Another important thing, almost the most important one, is the skin colour. Take a look at Seychelles. She's a classical case of „U R DOIN IT WRONG" as most Seychellois are dark-skinned - and she isn't. (There's a small european minority on the Seychelles, but as mentioned, it's small and as mentioned as well, a Hetalia character is supposed to represent a population's majority ; if we don't count the stereotypes.) So please pick the right skin colour for your OC, dark-skinned is just as kawaiidesu as white, okay?

The last and admittedly a tiresome topic is a character's figure. In the series, all of the characters are depicted as quite slim. (Except Cuba, but he doesn't get much screentime.) Just for the Bishie-factor, I think. And even if they're personified countries, they're human beings after all! Simply look at your circle of friends, your family, and other people around you. You'll quickly realize that they all have different body shapes. So what about a bit of diversity in OCs. I'm also saying this because I don't wanna see any more extremely petite girls with unnaturally enormous breasts.

And please, give your OC appropriate clothing. I'm looking at you, Iran OCs in short-shorts and Antarctica OCs in minidresses.

The personality

I personally think that developing a personality is one of the hardest things when you're making a Hetalia OC. Hetalia plays with stereotypes and makes fun of them. But your OC can't just consist of stereotypes, you also have to add your own unique traits to have an unique OC - maybe there's a stereotype of your origin that may be applicable to you, but as you're a human being like everyone else, you still have other personality traits.
A stereotype, for example, about Montenegrins is that they're lazy. It's a funny cliché and there are many jokes about it that are hilarious, and there's nothing about a lazy Montenegro OC, but please don't overdo it. As I said seconds before, people don't have just one personality trait. So if you want to make your Montenegro OC lazy, add lots of other personality traits to balance it out. Normally, this goes without saying, but I wanted to mention it anyway. (;
It's another point where you should get in touch with natives to get the best information. (Or you could simply surf their diaspora's forums on the internet, they often have discussions about stereotypes.)

So let's get back to our friend Nadira.

Nadira is naive and has her childish moments, and she isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. She is kind of a hothead and you cannot hold a proper conversation with her, as she always insists on her own opinion which she thinks is the only right one. Her mood only has two extremes, either cheerful and happy or sad and wistful.
